1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using the StatLingo application ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App. These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and StatLingo, Inc. ("StatLingo," "we," "our," or "us"). We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time, and continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

2. Description of Service

StatLingo is a multilingual communication aid designed for healthcare professionals. The App provides:

  • Pre-verified medical phrase libraries in multiple languages
  • Text-to-speech pronunciation assistance
  • Context-aware phrase suggestions for healthcare settings
  • Offline-first functionality for use in any environment

Important: StatLingo is NOT a medical interpreter service. It is a communication aid tool designed to supplement, not replace, professional medical interpretation services.

3. User Responsibilities

As a user of StatLingo, you agree to:

  • Use the App in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and institutional policies
  • Not rely solely on StatLingo for critical medical communications where a certified interpreter is required by law or policy
  • Ensure that the App is used appropriately within your healthcare setting and in compliance with your organization's policies
  • Not modify, reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
  • Not use the App for any unlawful or unauthorized purpose
  • Maintain the security of your device and any account credentials

4. Medical Disclaimer

StatLingo is a communication aid and is subject to the following important limitations:

  • Not a Replacement for Certified Interpreters: StatLingo is not a substitute for certified medical interpreters. Federal and state laws, including Title VI of the Civil Rights Act and Section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act, may require the use of qualified interpreters for certain medical interactions.
  • Not Medical Advice: The App does not provide medical advice, diagnoses, or treatment recommendations.
  • Verification Required: While our phrase libraries are verified by medical and linguistic professionals, users should always verify understanding with patients through appropriate means.
  • Clinical Judgment: The App is a tool to assist communication and does not replace professional clinical judgment.

5. Intellectual Property

The App, including all content, features, functionality, design, text, graphics, logos, icons, and software, is the exclusive property of StatLingo, Inc. and is protected by United States and international copyright, trademark, patent, and other intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App for its intended purpose. This license does not grant you any right to reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works based on the App.

6. Subscription and Payment

Certain features of StatLingo may require a paid subscription. Subscription terms, pricing, and billing cycles will be clearly communicated at the time of purchase. You may cancel your subscription at any time through your device's app store. Refunds are subject to the policies of the applicable app store (Apple App Store or Google Play Store).

7. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, STATLINGO SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO DAMAGES FOR LOSS OF PROFITS, GOODWILL, USE, DATA, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE APP. StatLingo's total liability to you for all claims arising from or related to these Terms or the App shall not exceed the amount you paid to StatLingo in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim. StatLingo does not warrant that the App will be error-free or uninterrupted.

8. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless StatLingo, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to your use of the App, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of a third party.

9. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access to the App immediately, without prior notice, if you breach these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the App ceases immediately. You may terminate your use of the App at any time by uninstalling it from your device. Provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination shall survive, including ownership, warranty disclaimers, indemnity, and limitations of liability.

10. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising under or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Delaware. If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
